Default Lockdown browser with Linux

I'm taking an online class, and the stupid teacher is forcing us to use lockdown browser for taking tests. If you don't know, it's a program designed to screw up your computer and prevent you from doing things like open other programs while taking tests. As you can imagine, it's crap. It employs all kinds of kernel hooks and viral techniques, and screws up your installation.

Never mind all the lockouts--those are foiled by simply using a second computer. The real problem is I use Linux exclusively, and this program is specifically designed not to work in Wine or a virtual machine. The only solution I can think of is to dual boot into a fresh windows installation (something I vowed never to do again), and format it as soon as the class is over. This is of course a major pain, and I really really hate installing windows.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

What's stopping you from doing the test from a regular browser?

There's some sort of browser authentication. Part of it is the user agent, and part of it is hidden in a bunch of SSL packets.

Have you actually tried using a virtual machine like Virtualbox?

If it doesn't work in a vm or wine, the only solution would probably be a dual boot. If you have the time, you could try to reverse-engineer the program and see how it does the lockdown and possibly disable that part of the ASM code.

If you really want an unobtrusive stripped-down version of Windows to use, you can go with any version of TinyXP. I prefer TinyXP Beast Edition. http://tinyurl.com/nrrjvc Sure it's old, sure it's insecure, but if you're just using it for a specific purpose I wouldn't give a shit if I were you. It's really quick to install(10 minutes, usually less) and only takes up a few hundred MB.
