Default Asparagus

Hi. I cooked some asparagus today and they were very tough. It's strange because they were skinny (and therefore should be tender), plus I snapped off the ends, furthermore I peeled them too. so now I dont know why they were still so woody.

I read on the internet that skinnier ones are more tender, but according to my mom, who used to grow them as a kid, it's the other way around. so who is right? In your experience, are skinny asparagus more tender or the thicker ones?

what did I do wrong with my asparagus?

The skinnier ones are more tender. How did you cook them?

I pan-fried them in oil (with a little bit of grease from the steak I was previously cooking), over medium heat, for 2 minutes.

Gotta cook them longer. More like 10 mins.

I love baking it. 350 degrees for ten to fifteen minutes makes it awesome. Really tender all the way up to the head, which is just a tad crunchy and great.

I fucked it up the first time I made asparagus, which wasn't that long ago, I didn't know you were supposed to snap off the ends.

I just kept chewing it and chewing it, tasted very good fried in bacon fat with some pepper, and then I tried boiling it.

Typically I grill them wrap them in bacon and red pepper and drizzle them in olive oil...It's pretty tasty when it's all said and done...

^I think wrapping them in bacon would make them too fatty and therefore unhealthy. when i eat asparagus, i want the nutritional value of it

I wrap mine in prosciutto, apply olive oil, and toss them in the oven at 350 for ten to fifteen minutes. It's a little healthier than bacon and it's crazy delicious.
