prehistoric encyclopedia? Anyone?
So, I've been looking through webpages for a relatively modern (later than 2005) comprehensive book about prehistoric life. So far, all I have been able to find is "children's/ young adult" nonsense. So, if there are any dinosaur/prehistory aficionados on here, can anyone help me find this?

Re: prehistoric encyclopedia? Anyone?
Well I think you'll tend to find that when you move beyond the young adult nonsense, prehistoric life isn't just a single subject to be discussed, it becomes much broader and deeper. I would look for books about more specific ideas than "prehistoric life" in general.
For example, a really good book on the evolution of mammals in the Pacific ocean is Neptune's Ark by David Rains Wallace. It's a little dense at points but it's definitely readable.

Maybe a textbook for a paleo class in college?
I didn't HAVE to buy one, so I said fuck it.
I dont know how much would actually be dedicated to life and how much is straight geologic processes
But other than that, it will be pretty difficult to find what you're looking for, mainly because I dont think it exists.

have a look around the libraries in your area and make inquiries, also if you have a college or university you might be able to pop in and ask for the names of their textbooks

Here is a list of some (and links to reviews and ISBN numbers). I think most of them are new.
