Interesting Times from Totse

I'm not sure where to put this, but maybe it can go here and we can just post about an interesting time that totse got us into. Any real text-file or information on the internet that you found through forum "life" could do though...

This one's a ...well.. you might not believe it, but I don't know any other way to put it. I'm pretty sure I was on textfiles.com somewhere deep in the archives. Either that or in the totse textfiles. But I was kind of getting into phreaking because it seemed so interesting to control something that way, but then the internet kind of took over. Anyone remember getting payphones to give free-calls or social engineering an operator?

Anyway. So I find this number years ago in one of the textfiles, literally some random ass textfile at the ends of a chain of folders and categories and files somewhere in the dept of the information net.

It is listed as, "Presidents phone number". Of course I had been dialing numbers left and right and had no idea in my mind that the number was accurately labeled.

I dialed the number, which was longer than a normal number and I think I remember using an extension (but I'm not sure). Basically, someone answers the phone and says, "President's Secretary". Stunned, I just let the line go silent and then mutter, "Who?"

"....Presidents Secretary, who is this? How did you get this number?"

"CLICK"

I lol'd so hard. But then I lol'd even harder when I took it to a friends house who later bet me that I was bs'ing. The look on his fairly innocent face and the terror of hearing those same words was enough for me. LOL. He hung up and they called back. We didn't pick up and never heard anything again. A little while later I was looking for the number and couldn't find it. I so wanted to call back from somewhere else and record it, but I'm kind of glad I didn't.

Anything interesting on your end? Memories?
