I don't like to think to much about my social life and how I can improve this or change that blah blah. Cause I spent a lot of time doing that and it only caused anxiety.

none of that shit matters unless you plan on becoming a damn CIA agent or something, then you can take thta book and bust it out and smoke it.

I'd have to agree with this. If you're naturally anxious these type of self books aren't going to help you in social situations, their just going to flood your brain with even more more things to worry about. I'm sure they can help someone who's already socially confident and comfortable, but then why would that person need the book?

The best start to winning friends and influencing people is to be completely comfortable with yourself, so you can relax and come out of your shell as quickly as possible.

I don't have the book in print or ebook format, only in audiobook, and to be honest I've never really found it exceptionally captivating. I've never 'read' the whole thing, only listened to parts of it off my ipod during exceptionally tedious circumstances (during flights, twice while working out and sick of music, etc). The parts I've heard/read are pretty good food for though, though, and I've found myself pondering over it at later times. The knowledge and kinds of things talked about in it are definitely applicable in the real world.

I have the book and have read it a few times. I would argue that it has played an important role in shaping my view on social interaction and it has benefited me greatly. I would recommend it to anybody who is serious about bettering themselves.

The book is called "How to win friends and influence people".
There is no grammar mistake in the actual title, just the thread title.

I don't need a book to help me interact with humans.

Great book. Revolutionary in it's time too.

Funny when people justify their dislike of reading by saying things like "I don't read self help" and "All I need is freud".

Funny, when you've no idea who you've said that to.

It's a great book. Studying it really benefited me greatly when I was back in high school. Reading stuff like this can be helpful especially when your feeling down. It's easy to get into negative feedback loops emotionally when your feeling unsure of yourself, and material like this offers an opportunity to take all that kind of energy and channel it forward constructively. Handy info for people working on developing self confidence, and practicing their people skills.
