Default Scrapping the long gun registry in Canada.

Looks like it's going on folks and if it ever does come in again I'm not registering any of mine again.

On my iPod and at work so I can't type all that I'd like to.

Hopefully it all works out for us gun owners.

Canadian gun law has a long way to go. But it could get better in the future. I believe the problem stems from a majority voterbase that are misinformed about guns leading them to fear guns.

Judged by twelve or carried by six?

^The problem in Canada is't gun control but the lack of prosecution against people that use a firearm in criminal acts. They should stop victimizing the criminals and criminalizing the victims.

I don't know what the courts are doing these days. Maybe they're letting people off easy I haven't checked the average sentences.

IMO some of the rifles in the prohibited class should be shifted down. Why is an AK prohibited and an AR not? That's like being racist (or stylist) based on culture of origin. What good is a pistol if it has to be under lock and key? Why are we just lucky somebody didn't make all firearms completly prohibited and don't actually have a statutory right to them?

Shit is whack.

You can get kalishnikoves as long as they're government stamped and semi auto... The laws here are funny and allot of them you can get around if you know how.

When I get to a keyboard bigger than my iPod I'll see about posting some later.

I heard the appropriate license was all but impossible to get, whereas getting an AR is somewhat simpler and more common.

For the kalishnikove rifle the internals are different than the automatic kalishnikoves. Instead of sheet metal it's usually a milled receiver and the internals are a bit different so it would be more trouble than it would be worth to convert it.

For the AR it all has to do with the optics as stupid as it sounds. As long as you have a sight rail for a scope or iron sights and not the millitary carry handle it's legal.
Barrel also has to be 18.4 inches as well though so that's where some people get tripped up.

Legal as long as it has a barrel of 18.4 inches and is semi auto. (may also need to be government stamped I'll call the registration office and check later on)

Illegal

Because it's scary and is in all the movies.

You can own the no longer manufactured Valmount Hunter AK varient. At some point the government bought a bunch for the Inuit so they decided not to try to take them back or issue hundreds of Inuit RPALs for guns that they could not hunt with. All other models are prohibited.

As far as ARs go as long as it is semi auto you are good. There are no barel length restrictions because it is restricted by name. You can have 16" or shorter barels as long as they come from a manufacturer that length. You can stick an M-203 on it if you can find one that got into the country before they banned their export from the US.
