Warren Ellis knew what he was writing about. I feel like the "99%" has so much in common with what Spider Jerusalem calls "the new scum".

I have no idea how to respond to this.

On the one hand, Transmetropolitan is a worthy comic to talk about.

On the other hand, the new scum had shit to do with the 99%.

Think about it. The new scum is made up of trash. Consumer whores. Idiots and retards. Sure, the 99% (AKA you and I) are made up of exactly the same, but Spider berates the new scum for never doing anything to change society. I'm not sure how he would view the 99%.

are you referring to the issue called titled The New Scum in this post?


Spider would view them the same way he views the transient movement. equal parts disgust and sympathy.

That's the new scum. And sure, there's some similarities, but I don't think they're the 99%.

I don't know of a real-life equivalent to the transient movement. Maybe undocumented immigrants seeing as how society hates them because of their origins and skin color.

I don't know if he sympathizes with the new scum.
