Default Drinking and Driving

Please don't do it guys...I've no problem with drinking but when you drive you take your life (and others) into your own hands. The girl who died here was 18 and was one of my friends before I moved away. It's sad things had to end this way.

I used to drink and drive all the time back when I was still "young and dumb", but I don't do that no more. Considering the amount of times I did i'm lucky I never got caught or worse. I actually one time did get pulled over when I had been drinking (I wasn't really that drunk tho) and I was acting all nervous and they asked me to open the trunk and shit but all I got was a ticket for not having my lisense with me.

Who gives a fuck if the drunk kills him or herself, its the carload of kids they run into that matters. And usually the drunk survives too but since he or she was drunk, its not fucking murder.

Good riddance. Let the alcoholic douchbags kill themselves, and hope they crash into a bus full of aids infested niggers. Also, population reduction ftw.

I'm too cool to drink and drive.

When I'm at a party and hear some fucking steroid jacked douchebag with a fauxhawk is drunk and says he's going to drive like he's fucking proud of it, I see his friends telling him not to, and he's like "im the DD tonight, the designated drunk driver lololol" and then his friends chuckle and brush it off like it's no big deal, secretly I hope he gets seriously injured on the ride home. If he's wasted and driving and wraps his car around a tree and winds up in hospital, I'm perfectly okay with that. Quite frankly the fucker got what was coming to him.

But it is a very different story when he hurts other people, and puts other lives at risk besides his own. That's when I have a problem. You're putting innocent people's lives at risk, and why? To show off for your friends? I'm sorry but if any of your friends tells you it's okay to drink and drive, he's not your real friend.

In no way should you ever believe that drinking and driving is okay.

And fuck you guys who disagree, you're just trolling anyways.

You can drink as much as your body can handle and still drive, legally.

As long as you are not: A. impaired and incapable of safely handling a vehicle, determined by the officer; or B. statutorily impaired, i.e., above .08 BAC in most states, you can have a few beers and drive home no problem.

You just need to know your limits, know when you've had one too many and shouldn't drive; but there isn't an actual law in most of the U.S. that explicitly says drinking and driving is against the law... Open containers in vehicles... that's another story.

If you get pulled over drinking a beer but your not drunk, would it be any different than getting an open container walking on the street?

Well where I live it's now down to .05, but even at .08, two beers in 40 minutes while you eat will have you blowing .09. The breathalyzer totally depends on how soon you've consumed alcohol as much as it depends on how much is in your blood. Swish a beer around your mouth, spit it out, and then blow into a tester, you will blow close to the legal limit.

It's all situational.

I know my limits but the law disagrees with me.

There are laws about operating a vehicle while "impaired". Whatever that's supposed to mean. They are trying to regulate a state of mind, which I don't much care for... A drunk guy shouldn't drive and the police shouldn't pull over people for random inspections if they aren't swerving all over the road or otherwise exhibit odd behaviour. That's the part that really irks me. The random checkpoints, with cute names like RIDE program or operation VIPER. Gimme a break.

They're both minor misdemeanors if the open container is just on your person or in your car. However, if you're caught drinking it in your car it's a 4th degree misdemeanor, while drinking it walking on the street is still just a minor misdemeanor.

No shit. Its kind of funny but really freaks me out when I'll be driving around the neighborhood and chuck out a beer bottle and miss the grass and land it on the sidewalk. Only happend a few times, but I floored it out of there and didn't go down that street in that vehicle for a while.

If you read the details of the accident, a lot of it was unavoidable regardless of the driver's intoxication. The accident was started by another car veering into his lane, for which he had to shift his driving. His back passenger tire also came off the truck he was driving. Why this happened wasn't answered or verified by the police.

It also says his intoxication was not high, not an actual report of his BAC.

He fucks up by not being a man and prioritizing the safety of the girl after he flipped his truck. Doing nothing to get her out of the passenger seat in a turned over truck.

One things for sure, this kid's going to have a miserable time in prison

How are you supposed to go to the bar when driving is the norm and public transportation is almost non-existent and not viable.

Vehicular manslaughter is already a crime, why do we need to go fucking balls to the walls on DUI laws.

90% of the pubs around where I live run courtesy buses if there is no public transport. Call up and they will pick you up and take you home for free.
If you get rid of the DD, that's another person who can drink, plus I think some bars were getting in shot for allowing people to get drunk then drive home or some other liability bs.

I did my fair share of young and dumb things. I'm glad I'm over that stage, drinking and driving is so fucking reckless. When you're drinking, you don't really realize how much your reaction time is delayed until it's too late.

I'm glad I never got caught. I wish I could lecture people about how stupid it is, but no one is going to listen until it's too late and they find out for themselves. We're all stubborn to some extent.

Cool Re: Drinking and Driving

I remember getting pulled over with my friend who was driving and both of us had a couple of beers in us, we got pulled over for expired tags. I had two bottles of beer sticking out of my jacket and the cops seen it. Since we were nice to the cops they just made me pour out the bottles of beer and wrote my friend a ticket for expired tags. One of them even said "I know you guys have been drinking". A little courtesy goes a long way with some cops.

Drinking and driving is bad and all but the idea that he (the driver in this situation) should be charged with the death of the girl is just looking for someone to blame.

She was almost definatley drunk to and consented to them driving home after drinking. I always hate it when some dumb whores try to press these kinds of charges like their kid is some little angel and totally some kind of "victim". And from the way the article puts it he was only a little buzzed and the crash would've happened anyways even if he wasn't drinking at all.
