It did say she was gifted, although slacked on occasion.
Science may have yet to prove that there is indeed a correlation between IQ and mental disorders, (as with many other things it has yet to 'prove') but there are many, many cases whereby those with a higher IQ are plagued with a 'mental disorder' of some kind.
