So sick of the whole Cannabis 'debate'

A few months ago I was checking out news stories on Google and decided to customize my news feed to include news specific to Cannabis (there were a few high profile busts at the time).

Now that I have Cannabis as a category (I know I should just remove it) I find myself scrolling past the shit morning after morning - Because it's a never ending back and forth about Marijuana dispensaries in the U.S. - It's not news, regulators in the U.S are idiots, they lie and cheat and they don't act in the best interest of the majority of the people that they 'govern'.

Why do Governments the world over continue to ignore that Cannabis is a proven, working and economically medicine?

You know what I hate worse? That I've regenerated the done to death topic - Someone will say big pharmaceutical companies keep it illegal, others might say that authorities will have to go after REAL criminals that are violent and dangerous...as opposed to harassing a pair of young adolescents with nothing better to do than to get high...

Oh and where's the token troll that spends their time saying how much time others waste smoking pot?

I really don't understand how such a clear case gets as monumentally fucked up as drug laws surrounding Cannabis.

Yeah so am I, but as to your questions one name comes to mind, Harry Anslinger. Better to look at it from the start than the jumbled mess it is today.

Here in the US the government has always liked the police state practice the 'war on drugs' gives it.

I've been interested in most things Marijuana for over 10 years, I first heard of Harry J Anslinger in the documentary Grass narrated by Woody Harrelson

I don't get how a purported means of controlling blacks/Mexicans (I don't doubt it) became a World-wide issue that the UN involved themselves in...and why Governments World-wide don't make the best decisions based on their own circumstances.

And it is just one big massive mess, rules for it vary dramatically depending on what part of the World one currently finds themselves in.

It'd be great if the government would legalize cannabis for medical treatment. But that would require some incentive for pharmaceutical companies, to keep lobbyists away from our plants. And it'd be a good idea to start after-school programs so that kids won't turn to drugs out of boredom.

The whole thing just looks like an expensive ordeal, and despite what is spent currently on the drug war, they do make quite a bit of money from busts and other substance-fueled prospects.

It's because the government can't tax all of it. When it comes down to the bottom line, all they want is money. So they try and tax it, but since people are growing, and selling it for profit, the government can't get a firm grasp on the buying and selling of weed, because you can get it from a friend, which will cost about $10.
