The party someone runs as doesn't mean shit these days. Look at Obama. He ran as a democrat, and turned out to be a neocon republican.

Ron Paul is as republican as Obama is democrat. It's just a marriage of convenience.
You're a tool for using the term 'neocon'.

Yes. But unless his "supporters" are registered Republicans, they have no right (in some states) to be involved in republican primaries and/or caucuses.
And if they show up, some asshole might call the cops to remove them, eh?

Republicans are pro-foreign intervention, pro religious bigotry, anti civil-liberties and for authoritarianism, and are corporate sycophants. Anyone running who doesn't conform to this neocon platform is not a true republican!

Re: The Ron Paul Thread
Back when the country's democratic process was forged in blood and steel, the enemies/traitors of liberty within the government structures did not have such great wealth, power and resources. Today they have practically unlimited financing to pay off legions of goons to do their dirty work for them, they have endless amounts of resources to strangle the people off and drive them into submission whether they like it or not, and they also have many friends within the corporate power structures who are more than willing to help out if there's a buck in it for them. There's simply no way you could have another American Revolution in this modern age. These traitors to humanity are much too firmly entrenched at this point for any kind of citizen intervention. They have become mighty over the decades, and right now they would destroy all and everything just so no one else can have it. So there's really no way to win. Even if the people did somehow overcome these tyrants, thieves, liars and murderers, on their way out they would leave absolute destruction in their wake. Nothing would be left. They would destroy themselves along with the entire planet if it ever came to another American Revolution. No, the time for action on the part of the people has long ago passed, and all we can do now is sit tight and wait to see what they will do next, and leave it to the Creator to take care of them the way they should have always been taken care of. It's His battle at this point, not ours.

Honestly though this is a fact in the modern Republican Party. The thing is party's change, especially in a 'big tent' two-party system. Although back in the 1890's-1940's the GOP was much more libertarian in policy then today's 'New Right', the party is now the party of the hawk lobby, social conservative, and market-based coalition. Just like how in the 1890's-1970's the Democrats were the party of social-democracy, now they are dominated by the DLC Democrats who are basically centrists (and no, "ObamaCare" doesn't compare to the New Deal, Social Security, and the Great Society).

His view against abortion is the only thing I dislike about him.
On the upside, he did manage to find a suit that fits.

If I may ask, what do you guys (Paul backers) plan to do in the general election if Romney gets the nomination and picks a SoCon as his VP (McDonnell, Jindal, DeMint, ect)?
Would you vote for a third party? Is there any way Romney could get your vote (his campaign is really hoping to get them into the fold for November)?
It's just out of curiosity. I want to get a feel for how the Paul demographic ('Liberty Movement', if you will) could play out in the Fall.

If anyone besides Paul gets nominated, I will vote for Obama. He's still pretty much a neocon but he has done some good shit that I approve of. He's far more favorable than Romney/Santorum.
I might vote for Gingrich if he gets nominated, because I like his moon base idea and other space-related aspirations.

Its Goldman Sachs vs. Goldman Sachs
Depending on who runs as a third party, I may or may not vote. If Ron decides to go it, he will get my support. I voted for Bob Barr in the last election, but I don't know if he's running this year.
I will not vote for Romney or Obama. Its not that Im apathetic voting, but I seriously doubt there is gonna much difference from one another.I would just rather not participate in the election. Im all for voting, but I can't vote for someone who I totally disagree with. Me voting for Obama or Romney is worse than not giving a shit. Call me apathetic, but I can't support them, even if its the lesser of two evils

So most of y'all basically aren't going to vote if Paul isn't running? Or will vote for some Libertarian third party?
What if you lived in a key swing state (OH/NC/VA/FL/ect)?

Re: The Ron Paul Thread
No, Romney would have to worry about getting reelected, Obama wouldn't. A second term for Obama is much more dangerous. Also, some catering to the republican party would be a good thing, like the repeal of obamacare and maintenance of gun rights.

I was going to mention this effect. I guess the question to a lot of conservatives this cycle is:
Would you rather have a known enemy or a forced ally? Is the committed panderer better then the open opposition?
