someone give me an image to work with. I need some fresh stock images.
Preferably a photo of nature. Preferably no man-made structures (like power-lines, roads, boats, etc). Needs to be high quality, high resolution. Not too monochromatic. Good color balance. A good variety of textures.
and it has to look awesome

Color balance + Adjust contrast + Artistic filter were my first thoughts when i saw the photo's you've edited.

When I first started making them, I wasn't all that familiar with editing photos, so I went for simplistic editing. the more I made, though, the more complex the final product became.
this one has 15 layers of a bunch of crap with various settings + most of them have layer masks that took me a long time to make with the brush tool and shit.
Then I have ~5 or more hidden layers that were used to make some of the non-hidden layers (by applying-image and such).
I only have 1 layer for brightness/contrast, with a layer mask (I fucking love layer masks)
here's the original if you want to take a stab at reproducing it.
