my friend called me a short while ago and told me that at family dollar and was caught stealing some snacks or something I guess he got out of the building but some guy came out and said stop but he kept walking he was probably caught on camera it probably came it under 10 dollar so should he be worried or just avoid the store for a while

Lol why do people post the same scenarios over and over?? At least this time they did the right thing by getting the fuck out of there. My friend got busted shoplifting at a grocery store a few weeks ago and actually just stood around talking to LP. If i was in that situation, i'd just GTFO and not go back. Sure they would probably call the cops, but response times are not that great, and they're likely to stand there filling out a report instead of pursuing you (unless perhaps you stole a lotta shit). So no, your friend doesnt have shit to worry about assuming he avoids that store for a while.

They're going to forward his face to the police, the police will run through standard registry, mug shots, and school photos and find out who he is then come for him.

Best advice is to get out of town and assume a different name.

Yep, they might even take a printout of his face, show it to people in jail, and offer them less jail time if they can identify him. I hope hope your friend didn't park anywhere nearby, because they'll most likely pull the camera footage and look for a license plate number. There's probably at least two detectives working on a case to sink your friend.

If the police were even called, they will come and take a report. I doubt they will even look at the tapes let alone run it through a database. No one gives a fuck about people stealing candy.

Now, the school photo thing is a possibility if it was something other than fucking food from the dollar store. A buddy of mine stole about $1000 worth of lacrosse equipment and they went to the nearest high school (this was like 8 years ago) and found his picture in the year book
