I agree with this sentiment. Almost all of the people I have ever known in my life have the attitude that the world is broken, but there is absolutely nothing that can be done about it. It's lazy, and very American.

True change comes from within, though. If anyone does truly want to change the world for the better they shouldn't do it by giving away their money and spreading around propaganda; they should educate themselves and encourage those close to them to do the same. Imagine a democratic government leading a very well-informed people. A people who think for themselves and can recognize propaganda for what it is: emotionally-charged misinformation intended to encourage apathetic people into supporting something they do not understand.
