Question I was arrested by the Australian Federal Police

True story, bro.

They're equivalent to the FBI, or MI5. etc.

Can't give too many details, I got 18 months left on my section 9 goo behaviour bonds. Fact is, though, I was totally legit, therefore I post this.

Got questions? Ask away.

DUDE you're supposed to be my "bro"

Also, shoplifting is nothing compared to card fraud and ID theft.

but nah, it was a full on investigation and controlled delivery for me, most people would be years in jail according to my barristers, but fortunately i'm legitimately fucked up enough in the mind and apparently have enough "potential" that I should not be imprisoned. I made the front page of the paper, kiddos.

I am your bro, bro

But yeah, you say you're like 21 and it happened ages ago, how often do 19/20 year olds make the front page of the paper?

Isn't MI5/MI6 an intelligence agency, similar to the US CIA? They wouldn't exactly go around arresting people for crimes that only give an 18 month prison terms, much less 18 month whatever the hell section 9s are.

MI5/MI6 are British. This fellow appears to be living in Australia and was arrested by the Australian police.

Yeah, the AFP are like the armed counterpart to ASIO (ASIO can't legally carry firearms), they police airports and international crime.

1. I've given up caring.
2. I won't go to jail.
3. I have mental "conditions" that at least indicate that class of med.

Nah unlike the U.S., a federal charge is no worse than a state charge. It just means you violated a separate class of laws. Plus, unless you're a real badass, they usually pass it off the to Director of Public Prosecutions, who is the state prosecution office.

FYI, for controlled deliveries, they like to park an unmarked Commodore or Falcon right next to your house. Check before "possessing" your mail.

The "MI" in MI5 and MI6 stands for military intelligence. The Scotland Yard handles the FBI stuff in UK AFAIK.

Hmm. I don't remember creating this thread, lol. Guess that's what happens when you take drugs and drink vodka from the bottle.

No, there was no reason for them to be suspected. The warrant, which I believe they had, had a very narrow scope as to what they could seize, basically just a certain category of items plus anything "tainted" or illegal.

OP, I know who you are.

The other thing for which you got pinged (which I'm guessing they weren't aware before they visited)... was it a completely fabricated artwork, or did you work from an image of one?

Well, in my case it was flagged and the opened up an investigation, they saw more related things come through, set up a controlled delivery, and BAM.

Just to elaborate, over here we don't one single federal agency like MI5 or the FBI, we have ASIO, who are domestic spooks basically, and don't carry firearms, and the AFP, who actually do the policing. And unlike in the US, a federal crime is no more serious than a state one, it simply means it breaks a federal law rather than a state one.

If there's no other proof that you paid for it yourself then this is probably correct.

I don't actually know, a roommate whom I am no longer in contact with picked it up and let them inside. I'm curious though so I'll try to find out...

In the US, a federal crime isnt necessarily more serious than a state crime. Part of it depends on where/how the crime was committed, the type of crime is also important. The sentencing guidelines are pretty similar between state/federal, the main difference is that in the federal prison system there is no parole.
For instance: if you litter on federal land (ie national park, military base, etc), its a federal offense. Your punishment is given by the federal court. If you litter on state land (ie state park), its a local offense. Your punishment is given by the local court. Both penalties would be similar, but the difference is jurisdiction. Same thing for drugs. If you traffic drugs intrastate, its still a local offense. If you traffic drugs interstate, its federal.

Its a common misconception that US federal courts only handle serious offenses, you can go to federal court for parking tickets, jaywalking, littering, etc.

true, but thats just a jurisdictional thing though...if the federal prosecution didnt supersede state, then you'd still get charged at the state level

Banks=Only federal because of FDIC
Mail= US Postal Inspection Service, Inspector General
Internet/Phone=FCC, FTC, FBI etc (depending on what you did)

Encoder, heat stamp, tipper, holograms, pvc cards etc.

They must of known more about your operations. Surely ordering those items alone isn't enough to warrant a controlled delivery.

Are they illegal to have in your possession in Australia or did they have more reason to suspect you? You used your real name but did you also use your own card and address to have the items delivered?

I've heard that federal prisons have more recreational things than state prisons.

Someone on the Shroomery was out in the woods with thier friends and got stopped by a ranger/cop. They were trespassing on federal land and he had a hit of LSD that the cop found. I think he had to go to federal court for it, but it was a long time ago when I read it.

that wouldnt surprise me, I (wrongly) got a parking ticket at a federal building and I had to pay it to the federal government. To dispute it, it would've meant going to federal court. It wasnt worth fighting (paying court fees, getting off work and driving 50 miles to the federal courthouse) so I just paid that shit
