Acutally you probably couldnt, if you want to get technical. Assuming your street is 30 feet wide, and the speed of sound is 340m/s; it would take approx. 27 milliseconds for your voice to reach the other side of the street.

Most datacenters of serious websites are located in Brussels, Amsterdam, London, etc... Even zoklet's is around London.

Snoopy I will admit, I'm mad jelly of the upload speed you get in belgium. Not sure why Canada doesn't have service plans like that, we usually only get upwards of 5mbps upload on most plans.

I could get 75Mbps with 2Mbps up if I wanted to pay extra for it. Rogers is really fast. Right now I get about 17-20Mbps on average depending on what location in the world I'm uploading or downloading to. It's more than good.

It's not great, but it's actually the best I can get where I live. I live an a very rural area and I get my internet through an antenna on the roof of my house pointed at a tower on top of a mountain. At least my upload speed seems to be greater than average.

I also tested my Internet with servers in New York and London. The speeds were pretty much the same as the ones above.

We do, though. Rogers' "Ultra" package provides 75Mbps.

Higher upload speeds will greatly improve your latency in online games, so if you're a PC gamer I reckon upstream should be just as important to you as downstream.

The only online games I play now are MW3 and DoW:S. Other than that, I finally got around to playing Arcanum single player, something which I've been meaning to do since about 2003.

If you had two modems exactly identical you could use them in tandem and increase bandwidth. I used to use two identical US Robotic 56K modems. Still took an hour to download 10MB. lol

That was the sound we heard every time we went to log into &Totse. We used to use a HyperTerminal connection to the telephone number which brought you into the main BBS system's menu. From there you'd have to ALT+TAB/ENTER your way through the various menus to navigate the site.

A fair amount for some games (eleventy million jillion billion for DOTA and HoN, 5 or 6 for CS:S, a metric fuckton for CODs, one or two for BF3)
