Ideas for boobytrapping your yard

I was at my girlfriends house the other day and she told me about how just a couple days ago someone was rattling her back door handle trying to break into the house. And ive been hearing how there have been breakins in the area. She lives out in the country and she lives by herself and her 3 y/o son.

It scares me because i know there is no way she would stand a chance against an intruder and im scared for her and her son's safety....not to mention mine!!!
I know boobytrapping your yard is not supposed to be allowed but i need to stop this intruder or at least injure him in some way to keep him away from the house.....anyone have any ideas?

I'm assuming from your description that you live in the midwest so that should be an adequate deterrent.

Thanks, those are all great ideas. I like the sign idea alot. It might scare him away knowing that he could actually be on camera because i think part of the reason he is targeting the house is because its a trailer without an alarm system or anything that could catch him.

Oh and the punji sticks...great idea!!!! I remember my dad mentioning how he used those back in the day but i couldnt remember what they were called. Any idea where i can get them?

Yurpen, i like the trip wire into bear trap idea also. I would love nothing more than to wake up seeing some crack addict with his face smashed in a bear trap.

I think Tachosomoza is right, plus im guessing that the guy is white since there are no black people that live in the area but you never know.

Just get a gun and teach her how to use it. Also if you can afford to get a security camera it wouldn't hurt any.

I could teach you how to make allot of shit but it'd just land both of us in jail so if you're hellbent on making something google would be a good friend.

Also look up "man trapping" as it might have an idea or two in there... I'll post more literature later if I can arse myself into it but otherwise look it up and start figuring out how to build / create them by yourself and always remember there's a three year old running around... Those things get into everything.
