Default Every time I take my dog for a ride in the car, she never shuts the hell up. Help!

I love my dog, but this drives me nuts.

Like most dogs, my dog loves to ride in my car. However, my dog always goes nuts and has to bark like 47.6 times a minute. I enjoy her company, but it really becomes a nuisance, not to mention distracting when Im driving. Does anyone got any advice for me? Is there a way you can train your dog to keep quiet while taking her for a ride?

Lulz. Do most dogs like car rides? Mine always hops into my car expecting to be brought for a walk(we live in the countryside though), but I thought she was weird.

Just open your windows and bark along with the dog and let the whole world hear your glorious symphony of barking.

Make your dog lay down in the car or have some sort of set rules. You probably will have to yell at your dog at some point or smack it's nose.

You've got to be steady in your training as well.

be consistent. if your dog is older it's less likely you'll be able to train her as well as if she was a pup. use a crate or something, make sure it's visually limited so she can't see what's going on outside the windows, usually this alone is enough to calm a dog down and quieten their barking.

apparently different music has different effects, I suppose you could try switching it up and see what happens. yelling will excite your dog further and properly make her bark more. stroke her and try to calm her down with a soothing voice. you could also try using a spritz water bottle to spray her when she won't shut up.

as always, NEVER hit your pet.
