lol Rosenstein. Anyways this isn't really that fucked up. Your supposed to fill out a form for transactions over 10k (cant remember the name). Going slightly under 10k used to be and still is a common way of avoiding taxes and detection of illegitimate money. If they had a valid reason for doing so and a good lawyer things should be fine.

edit: 295k in multiple just under 10k transactions seems pretty shady. Even a scumbag like me would know not to do that more than a couple of times if it was legit.

the govenment is going to hold on to that money for at least a year, while lawsuits are filed etc. meanwhile the farmers, whose money changes hands every month or so, are high and dry, probably unable to buy seed or feed.

yet another problem that needs to be addressed in this country is farmers, for the people whose lives everyone depends on they make no money.

Not really, man. They were basically making weekly deposits, so more likely than not they simply have a slightly sub-10k weekly turnover.

I don't understand what he did that was illegal. You have to file that form if the deposit is over 10k. They were not over 10k, correct? So he didn't fill out the form. As far as I understand it, he was following the rules.

Indeed, but it is illegal to purposely make multiple deposits under 10k to avoid going over 10k. The rules are bullshit but it seems pretty shady that they made around 40 deposits for just under 10k. You'd think one of them might be for slightly more since the average was for around 10% less than 10k. Also it's now illegal for banks to not report transactions that the IRS would deem suspicious, at least when it comes to cash, or in general i think. Pretty sure BoA just got fucked for that, but it's pretty obvious they were purposely allowing criminal activity to profit off it.
