But you're wrong, the company that *insert media* is made by goes onto sites like tpb/demonoid, adds the torrent themselves, and then reports every ip address that is also leeching/seeding to the respective providers. This is completely legal, because that information is public.

The funny thing is that they don't really care if you're a leecher. They only go after active seeders. And I mean people who upload shit yet to be released and seed that real proper. Recently a dude got a 60k fine for uploading some emo cd that wasn't released yet. They tracked him, capped him, sued him and convicted him in like 4 days shit was fucked up. Rape victims need to wait 14 months for their cause to appear. Shit's all kinds of fucked up.
