The only people that I can think of off hand that are so scared for their daughters "coming of age," are ultra-conservatives,
ultra-religious people (usually from ultra-religious sects), trailer-trash/dirties (aka the unintelligent),
and people who have serious problems with women's rights. Usually they are an unhealthy mixture of two or all of those things.
What's true is this: the caged bird sings; anyone you try to imprison will eventually 'revolt,' and the ensuing rebellion is usually an accumulation of all the act's you forbade of them.
Example: At my work I like to listen to music which may be considered hilarious under the right circumstances, and played the entire Slim Shady EP to my co-workers (they loved it). My one co-worker then went home and told his son never to listen to Eminem!
His son being of an age of curiosity then looked up all of Eminem's works, and got a head start at some very... risque language. End of example.
Now using a similar scenario, (one that is VERY close to home with me and my girlfriend... more her's than mine), let's say that a parent/parents goes so far as to have their daughter legally imbibe in a contract stating that she will not consent to any type of sexual interaction until marriage (the time when I mentally gained an extreme negative bias and cut ties with her parents/family).
Guess what... We fucked anyways!
