I don't like it here, but people by and large seem quite happy with their lives. It's just another way of life.

I think some of the users here want to see a globalised world full of shopping malls and English speakers.

I have also spent time in Saudi Arabia, kuwait pakistan, turkey, bahrain and algeria. I just in general don't appreciate the culture or atmosphere there. People in general seem less relaxed and fun than they do in other nations. i found kuwaitis and bahrainians in particular to be condescending and rude and Pakistan to be full of absolute fucking morons who will believe literally anything. Bahrain was pretty normal for a crazy rich tiny country that does outlandish shit surprisingly. People were nice to my face in Saudi Arabia but i don't trust a single one of those fuckers. Turkey was like a shitty european country, just with a language that stresses me out.

But i would define most of those places as hostile and full of people who want to cut my head off and put it on the internet to some extent.

Were you there for travel, or as part of a military tour or something? Of course they're not going to like you if they know you're a fucking US troop parading around their country.
