Default How do I exercise?

Whats the best way to exercise. Just answer (1), (2), (3), or (4)

1: Run on the treadmill
2: Walk the dog outside
3: Lift weights at the gym
4: Pushups and situps

a mall down yonder opens at 5 am, no stores are open, so hundreds of old people can walk around in laps. you could see if there's anything like this in your area and join. No dogs tho

If you're just starting out I'd say go with jogging, walking, and pushups. Once you feel comfortable jogging that you don't need to walk and can do pushups with good form and at least 25 in a row (depends on your bodyweight/current fitness level) start working yourself on some weights.


I realize I just assumed you're thin, fragile teen.. in the case you're a hefty guy, you can probably get on those weights sooner.

edit: If I have to choose 1- run with your dog. Gets you in shape, spend time with your pal, maybe meet a girl in the park.

Get a 10-15kg bar, 2 5kg bars and about 50kg worth of weights, and then just do upper body exercises with the bar(ie. military press, flies, bicep/tricep curls, upright rows, shrugs, that sort of stuff), and then do situps or something similar.

For abs, something like this;

For legs, just walk/run. Plus you could do 15-20 reps of front/back squats with the bar. If you have access to a rack then you could do a heavier weight but if you're by yourself make sure you can get back up...letting the bar roll down your back sucks.(pinched nerves ftl).

Treadmills are gay, if you have a dog you might as well just walk with him/her.

Upper body plus core strength being ideal, unless you intend to be a powerlifter or a professional weightlifter, where leg power is pretty important.

If you can't get/afford a bar and weights, just find an object that is heavy enough for you and use it. 20L water drum filled with water will work, however it might be a bit clumsy for bicep/tricep curls and you'll have a higher risk of hurting yourself.

Otherwise pushups + dips + chinups(if strong enough) + walking. If you have a bicycle, that would be good for cardio if you have hills nearby
