I don't see how he's dumb. Only mods can delete threads. I'm too lazy to go find a mod's post supporting this claim, but yeah. Prove me wrong. Go make a thread called "I'm going to delete this..." and weep as you find yourself impotent to do so.

Sober was referring to deleting something on your personal computer hard disk drive after having watched it. See what happens is, you select your 700MB DVD rip, you press the delete button, and then the parts of the file allocation table that point to the sectors where that data is located are erased. This allows the computer to overwrite those sectors, thus allowing you to reuse this space for more movies.

In that way, it's practically impossible for someone to even come close to filling up a one or two terabyte hard drive, as they can simply delete things that they last watched a year ago or watched last week and didn't enjoy.

So paying for a service that lets you stream from a limited and time-limited selection of content is awesome, but getting probably better quality content for free that you can keep or delete as needed sucks? I think you're the idiot.

I really wouldn't want to have every episode of those shitty programmes. And i've seen every episode of Top Gear a million times because it's on tv here and repeated constantly.

Also 30 gigs is not really a large amount. Do you realise how cheap hard drives are now? You can get four terabytes for a couple of hundred quid.

*sigh* Really? I didn't know!

PROTIP: I was sure he was just trolling. I even said so: "Dear God, I'm sure he's trolling". Turns out he was just being dumb or having a brain fart, but my point is... I was in on it. I knew the whole time. For realzies.

Thanks for the reply though.
