Back in late 2009 on an Australian TV show in a mini talent competition a bunch of guys did black face to do a tribute (or whatever) to the Jackson 5.

Harry Connick Jnr was a guest on the show and one of the judges of the competition (I think). He said how it was offensive and how he wouldn't have been involved had he know what was going to happen - He acknowledged they weren't meaning to be insulting to black people but still got all moralfag on their asses...

...And then people dug up some old MAD TV footage from 1996 where Connick Jnr was making fun of black evangelical ministers - And looked like even more of a douchebag than usual.

The reason it's a big deal is the history of minstrel shows which belittled black folks. I don't understand why everytime a white guy dresses up like a specific black guy people act like he's doing a fucking minstrel show. None of the people who get all outraged about this shit have ever seen a minstrel show and there's no malicious intent to it.

I saw them air that episode at 5 PM on Comedy Central once-- where they censor the shit out of stuff-- and in the last scene where the kid is in the principal's office with black face on, they actually edited the shot to where you couldn't see him and it was just closed in on Charlie and Dee. Was ridiculous.
