Eating Ants
So i is thinking, I should eat ants, they contain more protein than meat and are absolutely free.
The problem is: If you want to become a anteater, you got to be efficient. So i thought of using a straw to eat them faster directly from the ground.
Would it be bad if i swallowed sand at the same time? Or would it just go through i system and end up in the toilet? Because i figured a anteater would swallow a lot of sand...
What do you think?

Sands are good substitute for fibers, becos fibers ..... like sands, do almost nothing to your body in terms of nutrient and nutritional values .....

First, stop using SWIM.
I recommend just eating the types of insects, arachnids and bugs that are in your environment, you shouldn't fix your diet on something that you might have a lack of when there is an abundance of other bugs that contain protein. Crickets, snails and spiders can all go well with ants, and there are some great recipes out there if you don't mind tossing some cash to some spices.
http://www.amazon.com/Eat---bug-Cook...7537964&sr=1-1
This is a good starter, not too many recipes but it's still not bad.
I wouldn't directly suck ants up with a straw, you'll look really silly and it seems very inefficient. You are better off lifting up a rock and shaking them all into a bin and putting a few drops of honey in the center while trying to keep it as clean as possible. That way they all head to one area, get stuck, and you also get some honey in your diet. I recommend local honey if you suffer from allergens in your area.
I don't know much about eating sand but it doesn't seem to be a very popular dish for a reason.

Re: Eating sand
Well, it's not like your body would digest the sand or anything. You may have some rough shits, but that should be as bad as it gets.

Re: Eating sand
I'd imagine you could develop/create (or maybe even buy, im sure its been done) something that will catch the ants for you...save yourself the time and energy (time is money, which you said you're looking to save). All you'd need is to create incentive for the ants (bait) and then a preventative measure so they don't escape (trap).

Re: Eating sand
Save yourself time and just buy ant farms off Amazon. It's like microwave TV dinners for insectivores. Plus, you can set one up and make them watch you eat a colony of their cousins so they can wait in horror for their turn.

Re: Eating Ants
I've eaten chocolate-covered ants. I couldn't taste the ant at all.
The main problem with ants is that they're tiny. If you cook them (fry them up in a pan or something) they're gonna shrivel up to something smaller than a grain of rice (if they were even that big to begin with).
I would go for something larger and meatier, like a big grasshopper. A dozen crispy grasshoppers with salt, paprika and lemon juice sounds delicious.

Re: Eating Ants
I've always wanted to try honeypot ant's. They're a delicacy in many places, and frequently eaten in Australia.

I'd imagine they'd taste sweet and oily.

Re: Eating Ants
Eat crickets. The breed quickly, eat grass/plant matter so are easy to feed, are big enough that you can get a decent amount of protein from them.
They eat them a lot in south east Asia, fry them up with some soy sauce. Maybe buy some "smoke" flavour because when I ate them, they tasted like smoked almonds mixed with pork crackling. Once you get over that you're eating bugs, they're a really good snack to eat when drinking.

I've always wondered if insects were a missing food group requirement in our diet.

Just make sure to coat in chocolate and possibly deep fry.

LOL at skygear removing the SWIMs from my post, the SWIMs were only there to add to the ridiculus factor.
Even though eating insects sound as a good idea, I would never use a straw to eat them directly from the ground that would be retarded.
I just wanted ideas to gather ants so it wouldn't be such a waste of time, thank you for your ideas, especially for this one.

I was trying to turn a troll into a positive direction... And looks like we did!
You could also find a ant mound, use a little water and honey to collect them.

would it work to put ant poison on a hill, then dig it up in a few days and pick the ants out? that way you wouldn't have to catch them as they run around

Re: Eating Ants
1. Spread peanut butter on slice of bread.
2. Carefully insert 100 live ants on their backs on said peanut butter.
3. Lay second piece of bread carefully on top, careful not to break any legs.
4. Hold sandwich gingerly and enjoy.
5. Wash down with a cold glass of milk.
