Not everybody though, inmates who were accused of murder are exempt, because too dangerous.

^ Uhh I didn't lift a finger for more than a year because I simply refused to work. The worst thing they did was make me lose ~3 good days monthly. Disciplinary action can be taken, especially at federal level.... but I'll sit out another 30 days in the hole before I work for those cunts.

That said, I agree completely that a system with forced labor, maybe modeled after russia's MODERN prison system would do a hell of a lot of good. In russia for the small/moderate offenses they tend to ship you out to what is essentially a gulag. However, there is no more torture or starvation (with exceptions, of course).

Niggers and your average prison dweller of any color tends to dislike honest labor so working their asses off would likely reduce recidivism.

Many of them are forced to do labor.
In prison I have held the following jobs.
Firefighter, Landscaper, Cook, Prep Cook, Janitor, General Labor which included cleaning fairgrounds, building fences, cutting ivy (it completely takes over forest areas and kills everything), cleaning campgrounds, cutting firelines, picking up garbage on the road, shit like that. I know I'm forgetting stuff.

When I was in prison, I was on a contract detail with the city to pour concrete. We mainly built or fixed sidewalks, and it was all done for free. We didn't get a penny for it.

I don't know where you got the idea that prisoners just sit around in a cell all day. Some of them do, of course, but the overwhelming majority of them do some sort of work, whether it be working inside the prison or like I was, working outside of the prison for the city.

Firefighter, landscaper, concrete finisher, janitor, cleaning city parks, cutting down excessive brush or limbs alongside roads, performing controlled burns to clear the forests around the prison of excessive growth, worked in a warehouse stocking & categorizing the supplies for the prison, forklift operator, and general laborer.

In your opinion, how much of the total work benefitted the tax payers? Did you work 40 hours a week? Was it difficult for authority to coerce the prisoners to work? Or were there incentives where hard workers earned some form of rewards?

Well in the jobs I held, I helped keep the roads and parks clean, built sidewalks in the city or wheelchair ramps so people can walk safer alongside the roads, and as a firefighter, I helped put out a fire in a local business. All the other jobs I had were inside the prison (or on the prison grounds). Point is, I provided those services to the community for free. They didn't have to hire someone and pay them. It saved the taxpayers money.

We worked 32 hour weeks, every week. You don't really have a say in the matter of whether or not you want to work. You do the job you're assigned, or you go to lockdown. Your choice. You can sit in a cell and do slow time if you want, or you can work and have your mind taken off of your current situation of being in prison. Your time goes by faster.

The only incentive to work was to leave the prison everyday. For 8 hours a day, 32 hours I week, I was working outside in the free-world like any other person. For 8 hours, I didn't think about cell bars. I could see people, cars, smell good food (sometimes get to eat it too, if someone is nice enough), and be normal. That's the biggest incentive you could ever ask for as a prisoner.
