Bottom of plants are in submerged water

So I transplanted them about 2 weeks ago. Well I dug the hole a little to deep so that when I put them into it and finished covering with soil, they were sitting about 4-6 inches below the regular ground level.

Well it downpoured a few minutes ago and I checked them out. There is literally about 6 inches of water just surrounding them. The foliage of most of the plants are actually still above the water level though, and the leaves are drooping a little bit.

What i'm asking is, are they in danger having this standing water on top of the ground they are planted in? One or two of the smaller plants actually almost "drowned" and I tried to support them with dirt to raise them back above the water level. But yeah the tops of the plants are still standing its just that there is alot of water above the surface of the water.

Dig yourself a little drainage canal to reverse irrigate the water from ya gahden. The plants should be fine as long as the water isn't there for extended periods of time. Keyword (P)ROOT ROT.

Well I don't think a drainage canal would work very well because it is in a low lying area in the first place. But yeah after the water subsides I may get some dirt to fill in the space where the water is sitting. But thanks for the reply anyways. Yeah i've literally witnessed plants being washed down a creek in the coffee can/pots and they survived.

So i'm thinking as long as root rot doesn't set in, that it's not hurting them really? I mean, roots can live in plain ole water in a hydro setup so I don't think this situation is to severe. Although I hope the 2 runts that drowned survive because they were slumped over under water but I tried to prop them back up.

Firstly in hydro you have an arrangement to deliver oxygen (which is vital) to the roots (usually airstones).

Secondly
Overwatering (or sitting in water) is bad, normally around roots in soil there are tint airpockets in the soil via which they get air, overwatering compacts the soil and removes these vital pockets.

Yes, plants can drown. Bad buzz for you. They can tolerate a few days, maybe even a week, under water like that, but they will die eventually.

They're cannabis, not submarines, they're not supposed to be underwater. I found that they like really quite dry soil compared to most plants, but as Banned said, can do ok so long as they have oxygen. I usually add some perlite and vermiculite to soil for any high value plants, perlite retains water, vermiculite retains air. Both are expensive in the garden centres around here though, so usually I only use a little mixed into the compost.

Well of course I know they can't survive under water for extended periods. I was just wondering if they would be ok for like half a day that it rained like hell. But yeah one drowned and is in critical condition and the rest are pretty.
