Default How To Hotwire Car

I discovered this messing with my motorcycle. There may be easier ways that you can do from inside of a car. Never tried screwdriver thing and it doesn't seem like it'd work besides on old shitty cars.

Anyway, to send juice to the starter (and start it) you can just touch the positive and negative from the starter solenoid together. They usually have some rubber things covering the positive to keep this from happening and probably to keep it from sparking and catching on fire. But touching them together will cause the engine to turn over. For people really ignorant about cars the solenoid is the little box with a fuse on it that runs right off the battery and has it's own positve/negative terminals. Touch the metal together.

1st off, get in ur time machine and go back 2 the 90s.

2nd, ur method wont work, itll turn the starter but wont fire cuz you have no ignition switched on. so therell be no current going to spark or whatever.

Bike is 03.

And about the ignition, I don't think it matters, but I just read something about how you could do the same thing with an extra battery, and just using a screwdriver to connect posive/negative on solenoid

Oh, and bikes usually you press a button to start them after key is turned, unlike car where you just turn key, so it may be a little different but I think it would still work, or work if you did something similar.

no, cars are different. you know when you turn a key in a car, the first turn you get the dash lights come on, the next turn and the starter turns. well if those red lights in the dash are not on then there will be no spark in the engine and it won't fire. all it will do is flood the engine with fuel. modern cars are even worse as they have immobilizers and onboard computers that are involved and make it even more complicated. you can jump the ignition in an old car but the easiest way is from the wires behind where the ignition key goes.

Yeah, with the switch off, you will get no spark. You'll just turn the motor over.

on a older vehicle, the best way to hotwire is jamming a screwdriver in the ignition switch and changing the switch position with the screw driver. Or you just hammer a flathead screw driver into the key cylinder until the lock break. On older GM cars the ignition key cylinder is attached to a linkage that mechanically moves an ignition switch like this:

(usually mounted on/near the firewall)

And if you jack the steering wheel to one side hard enough you can break the wheel lock (so you can steer)
