Re: Required Reading for Humanity: Third Edition
Gulag Archipelago by Alexander Solshensityn or the russian version (Aleksandr is translated normally from cryllic).
EDIT: Maybe Bloodlands as it fixes mischaracterizations of (the european part of) world war II badly but i dont know if its enough for 'required readings for humanity'.

Godless: The Church of Liberalism by Ann Coulter. If you are a Conservative you will love it and if you are a Liberal than you will see how others see you.

The Cato Institute wrote a 20 page paper completely tearing it apart. It isn't even arguable.

O by the way.
Everything is arguable.
Especially when it comes to a soft science such as economics, where even the leading experts in the field do not have a full understanding of the cause and effect of policies and market changes.

Re: Required Reading for Humanity: Third Edition
I recommend Freud's Analysis of the Ego and the Group mind, a very easy and short read, contains none of the later over-developed psychosexual theories of Freud, and it draws heavily from other writers.
Also, The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire.

The Games People Play - A Transactional Analysis.
It's written strangely, but a good read.

That was a damn good book. I can't help but remember "stroking" now and again when I am going through the banal motions of everyday conversation with acquaintances.

It is rather funny, passing strangers and saying "hello" or chatting about weather, little cartoon numbers will pop up above their heads.... it makes life interesting for sure.

Sometimes it is fun to drastically alter your quota of stroking. Preferably within a few minutes of interaction. Like give them a grunting hello, get a hesitant greeting back then come at them with an onslaught of enthusiastic chatting, only to switch back again to a grunt.
