Over Under Shotguns
Ok, so over summer I want to buy a Over Under Shotgun. I have other shotguns (namely a Benelli Super Vinci and an old Mossburg 500), but I have been dying for a O/U.
My price range is <$2k, so I want something classy. I want something with good attention to detail (ie engraving, fit/finish, etc), high quality, etc....
My short list so far:
Browning Citori Feather Lighning
Browning Cynergy Feather
Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon
Right now I think the Beretta 686 is the front runner, but I'm still looking around. Any ideas in that price range?

Re: Over Under Shotguns
I don't have any experience with those three but my girlfriend owns a Franchi Instinct SL 20ga and it looks and shoots great. It's also *really* lightweight which can be a pro or a con in this case I guess.
But, what's not sexy about this?

Re: Over Under Shotguns
Owning expensive shotguns goes against the basic principal of shotgun ownership. Shotguns must be cheap, durable and expandable.

Re: Over Under Shotguns
How about a used Krieghoff?
It's a little more expensive at $2600.00, but a K-32 w/ a 3 digit serial # is always going to appreciate in value.

Re: Over Under Shotguns
Why would you want one of those? I'm not a huge fan of shotguns in the first place but if I was going to get another one I'd get a semi auto style shotgun. Unless you want it purely for collection purposes I don't see a point to outdated shotguns. Especially overpriced outdated shotguns.

I needed an O/U like I needed another hole in my head but came across an A. Zoli O/U 12ga dirt cheap so I bought it. I rarely put the shot barrel on my pump gun anymore. All my bird and rabbit hunting and 90% of my clay busting is done with my O/U. I don't know what it is about it, but its a freaking killing machine. They just balance so nice and swing so well.
Roasted; If you get the chance to fondle a Ruger Red Label, give them a try. My buddy had one that he couldn't shoot to save his ass, but I couldn't miss with it. Somewhere along the line he sold it and got a different one but really likes it.

Expandable?
I already have a cheap, reliable shotgun. My Mossberg 500 is probably the most reliable shotgun ever made and it costs like $200

I'm sorry you feel that way. It sounds like you need to gain a better appreciation of fine firearms. (Side note: I dont really value your opinion or the link you posted...)
Plus, I already have the best semi-auto on the market. If I bought another one, it would suck compared to my Benelli so I cant see any point in getting another repeating shotgun.

I agree roasted. I think those old guns have character. They were/are built by craftsmen instead of just machines.
Modern and composite guns perform, but they have no character compared to old guns. For a sporting firearms/collectable, character is important.

That one from S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Clear Sky.
Could get headshots from 300m when you got all the right upgrades.

What do you think would be better for suicide: side by side or over/under?

You realize that both barrels dont fire at the same time right? One trigger pull = One bullet...

I know, that's why you get a double trigger model so you can pull both at once.

Re: Over Under Shotguns
Um ok, but to answer your question: I'd say the OU is better for suicide (assuming you are aiming for the brain stem). 2 Barrels of 00 buck shot right under the chin would probably liquefy your brain stem

Re: Over Under Shotguns
Lanber shotguns are nice and not too expensive. They look good, have interchangeable chokes and are fine.
Miroku are pretty good and made for the Japanese market. They are tooled on the equipment that makes Brownings. They are made in Japan. They have interchangable chokes too.
I love Ruger Red Label shotguns and I'm not sure why.

Re: Over Under Shotguns
I'm with the other people here. Why get one? There are so many things I would rather spend 2000 on.
If you're rich and into "fine firearms" I think I'd rather but some Weatherby large game rifle.

I want a shotgun because I shoot clays pretty much every weekend. You cant really do that with a powerful hunting rifle unless you want to burn out the barrel. Plus I wouldnt drag it through the woods hunting and risk scratching it up.
I already have a 7mm which is adequate for anything in North America (I dont want a safari gun that I'll never use)
