As stated above, buy things you can sell. Depending on how much money, buy things that have a great resale value and are in demand.
My suggestion is Apple products, such as iphones, ipads, macbook pro, etc.

Go to walmart/kmart/bestbuy/ pretty much any big chain store and find a receipt in the parking lot.

Buy the items on the receipt with you gift card.

Return the items for cash.



I used to do this all the time when my mom would send me gift cards from new york for food. then spend the money on wee/cocaine/alcohol.

Its the best way in my opinion cuz you don't lose any money as you would by selling the cards.

They sell very quickly on ebay & for close to the value.

ahhh fuck.. snowy days suck for receipt scams.

Try to get some off family and friends that are still within the refund time frame. You can still use all your CHRISTMAS RECeipt.

Also have all the reciepts ready before you activate the gift cards.

the problem with reselling on ebay or amazon is that you neeed to report all sales to the IRS and pay taxes on them if over a certain amount.. whats your thoughts on this or do you simply not report the earnings?

I've noticed that if you use a gift card to buy an item under a certain amount, and then return it, they sometimes give back cash.

I've heard that you can split your purchase with cash and your gift card, then when you make your return, some businesses will just be lazy and give you cash back. I guess some POS systems make it annoying to split the returns.

Yeah, I've found that to be true, too. In Cali, you can cash out gift cards that are $10 or less.

One WalMart gave me $17.xx cash back for an item, but another WalMart put it back on the gift card.

Yeah on the Wal-Mart website return policy it says they give cash back for anything under $25 even without a receipt. One time they gave me like $22 in cash without one, and a different time they put $17 on a gift card when my friend returned a tool.
