A working lighting designer is not a rare find, dude, the industry has become huge and crossed over into the corporate world, jobs are everywhere from cruise ships to amusement parks to schools to concert venues - it's not even remotely easy to get into and several supplement their incomes as master electricians, technical direction, production management and so on and so forth earlier in their career - but it's not all that far fetched.

20-something and things are better than they have ever been for me, at least since my childhood. I have great friends, strong relationships with my family, a good education, my own place, no "job" per se but steady revenue and no financial worries (no, nothing illegal), what looks like a promising career in academia (hopefully, worst case scenario I teach at some community college - not that terrible at all), I'm in good shape, I'm fairly well travelled, I have a whole bunch of skills and talents, etc. things are great. Still room for improvement though.

28, been almost everything job related, in prison a few (relatively short) times, lived on 3 different continents, almost got married twice, went by stages where I had lots of money, some where I didn't have any.

I like to think I've done more in my time than most people will have in their entire lives.

As of now I'm a weed grower on welfare in western europe

When you add both revenues I'd say it's pretty successful

I am successful in the sense that I can start up a conversation with almost anyone and become instant friends with anyone. Probably because I am not focused on money at all so I see through all the bullshit. I also have absolutely no fear of anything or anyone, the only thing I fear is being/getting locked up.

My attitude places me in crazy situations so I just have to be careful. One day I'll be in a warehouse with 200 lbs of weed and money counters all over the floor doing gram lines of blow cleaning pistols.

The next day you might see me posted with family doing thumbprints of L snorting crystal molly and designing clothes for a up and coming tshirt company.

you will see me in a 2011 benz dumping philthy rich and mac dre smoking indo three kings blunts.

The next day you might see me in a 91 honda smoking fortuna ciggerettes looking scrum as fuck

Or on the street in the pouring rain with no money no coat and a broken cell phone. drinking taaka with street kids 10 minutes later im in a club in the VIP section drinking hennesy and hypnotic discussing plans for a legit bussiness

Its not that its that I am shy around girls and quiet, for different reasons, that is one of my biggest character flaws actually the biggest I'm getting better tho. I have a girlfriend. I studied English and American Literature at degree level at a reputable uni in the UK. I currently work in a school with children with SEN (special educational needs) and I'm going back to uni for a year starting in September to do my teaching qualification (PGCE). I intend to teach 11 to 18 year-olds English lit and lang. Oh, and I've had to work bloody hard to get here because I'm dyslexic.

I don't have money in excess at the moment, but I will when I finally get into teaching properly.

Try being a teaching assistant first. That's what I've been doing for the past three years. When I first came out of uni I was like, what now? I moved back in with my parents, had a fucking horrible time with depression and such. Anyway, I got myself on the right track (with the help of my family, friends, and girlfriend) and now it's all coming together.

I didn't want to be a teacher when I first started as a TA. Heck, I only really made that decision late last year. It's a big decision, but you'll want to know it's right before you jump into it.

24. Steady job been promoted 3 times, another in a few months, living with gf for 5 years now, relatively healthy and I'm pretty good at Tribes. Plus I never broke a bone, so I'm pretty successful at not breaking bones. As far as money goes you could say I'm somewhat successful... I could be making more money but the job is really laid back.

I'm 16. Don't really have a lot going on for me. No job, got a felony on my file (not convicted since it was my first offence, but the case isn't closed yet). I do some for-credit independent research at the state university microbiology lab, but I can't get paid for it. I rarely leave the house (Both because I don't really want to and because I can't due to other barriers), never been in a relationship, never been to parties. I spend whatever money I have (which is almost none, my parents took whatever money I had in my bank account and locked it away) on weed and acid.

Still workin at it, I guess.
