I love (hah!) hearing of doctor daisy chains. A series of doctors who laugh and sneeringly deride a patient and even question their sanity.

Then the victim of their arrogance either turns out to be very ill or even dies.

Julia Wolf’s eyes focused on the melanoma poster fixed to the examination room door. The 19-year-old thought there was a chance the freckle on her leg might be one of the “less dangerous” forms of skin cancer.

Wolf told the walk-in clinic doctor her freckle had certain signs of cancer. It itched and changed shape over time.

He laughed and told her she was too young for that.

“He basically made me feel like an idiot for even asking,” said Wolf, now 28 and diagnosed with Stage 3 metastatic melanoma. “Yeah I was 19, but it turns out you’re not too young at the age of 19.

“If he had sent me to a dermatologist or looked into it, I could have caught it early on, but he just didn’t take it seriously.”

While the spot grew and changed, Wolf sought more medical help, but like that first encounter, she continued to hear the same message: she was too young to have skin cancer – she was healthy. Seven doctors later, she had little more than diagnoses of dry skin, a wart and hypochondria.

Years after that first clinic visit, another doctor suggested Wolf’s daily waves of nausea were allergic reactions to work.

“He was really rude and I felt embarrassed. It’s all because I was young and it pisses me off because it’s my life. I expected somebody to give a damn and nobody did. Everybody can go on their merry way and I’m dying.”

That is a stupid, stupid thing to say. Do you have any idea how many people come in and think they have some serious disease when really they have nothing? Thousands. So ONE time out of thousands the patient was actually right.

This proves nothing. If doctors followed up on these thousands of cases then you would have tons of invasive, dangerous, expensive, pointless treatments. It's not like even diagnostic tests are safe or free. That's why when you get old, doctors only routinely test for very common cancers, like breast cancer and colon cancer. I'm talking like a high percentage of people have those cancers instead of the fraction of a percent of times where some whiny bitch actually does have a rare skin cancer.

Okay, so the person is at fault for making an observation in the doctors office where they put up a poster giving awareness to melanoma? Mind you our society has launched everyone into drones where everything is premeditated to induce fear everywhere you go. Fear your husband, he might beat you. Fear your neighbor, they might be a serial killer. Fear the police, they might beat the shit out of you for a speeding ticket. Fear your priest, he might molest your child. Etc, etc, ex-fucking-cetera.

Now, of course the article doesn't tell you whether or not she was a smartass, but we can make the assumption from the fact I'm sure we all know someone who is the "family e-doctor". Consider she asked politely out of curiosity, no reason a doctor should ever belittle or make a patient feel small. Just another example of my personal belief/experience that doctors have become societies elitist pricks. All that education, pay, and knowledge gives them a certain "self-importance" to society. Fuck them. Psychiatry is a goddamn joke as is there view of general medicine. A lot of people are whiny bitches, well, it's a job. Suck it the fuck up and do your damn job.

Going in when she noticed change was the right thing to do, the doctors were wrong in the end. You can make excuses all you want after the fact but it doesn't change anything, all 7 were wrong and made wrong assumptions. Can you sympathize why they came to that conclusion based off what they know? Sure you can.

Unless someone is coming in and telling the doctor what to do and what they have, there is nothing wrong with doing some research on the Internet and informing yourself. Since only her 7 doctors know how she brought up the issue you can't even be debated as to whether or not she fell into that category or whether she was just innocently curious.


TL;DR Fuck Doctors! A few of you are decent and realize your job is difficult and embrace it. The rest of you ass clowns have your head so far up your own ass you forget what the fuck you're actually supposed to be doing. Come down to us lesser educated beings level once in awhile. Its got to be nice to have a PhD and walk around like your shit don't stink.
