Re: Photo-of-the-day Thread. Contribute your best!
I've only had the internet connected for two hours and already an ebay impulse buy - I bought one of those old Polaroid cameras they use for taking passport photos. Four exposures on one sheet - and it takes Fuji FP instant film which is really good quality (and reasonably cheap at £6 a pack).
Incidentally I've also got a Polaroid 600 - the only film available is made by a company called Impossible Projects, and it's fucking awful. I had two packs (b&w and colour) and on both, only about 1/3 of the exposures actually had a discernible image on them... the rest just being blue/orange shapes and weird crystal structures.

Well it's made up of a dozen or so macro shots of the watch, then put together in photoshop. The full-scale RAW version is ridiculously detailed. The prime lens on the GRD2 is really sharp, so you could probably print it at something like 40" square and not notice any loss in detail.

Re: Photo-of-the-day Thread. Contribute your best!
At the start of the summer I bought a 1920s Ensign box camera for £2 at a car boot sale, and bodged some 35mm into it:
Unfortunately the film scanner at uni is broken so this is just a photo of the neg (you can see the reflection of the camera, reversed of course). Looks promising though. I was a bit over-cautious with the winding so I only got 8 exposures on a roll - I could get 12 on if I wound it a bit less.
It's quite good for a cheap box camera in that it has two shutter speeds (1/30ish and B) and three apertures (don't know what they are).

The TV at the side of the road looks like it was taken on film. Or is it modified digital?
First one is great.

Put my GRD2 on a tripod today. Moved so that my shadow wouldn't be in the shot. Freak gust of wind. One smashed lens.

Retired my Zenit-E and bought an Olympus OM-20 with 55mm and 24mm lenses. I bought it because my Zenit can't take multiple exposures. Also it's nice not to have to use manual control all the time.

Nice pictures, but it's easy to get good shots of something so beautiful.

It was my first time playing around with ISO, I had previously just set it on automatic and never looked much into it.
I'll have to post some pictures that are a bit more difficult eventually.

FACEPALMS. ISO *IS* the second thing you play after toying with shutter speed and before aperture on the 1st day you get your hands on a DSLR.

Re: Photo-of-the-day Thread. Contribute your best!
They're a bit boring, IMO. The one of the sunrise/set is pretty cool, but the others don't tell a story and are pretty mundane in terms of the aesthetics. To my mind (and bear in mind that I know next to nothing about photography) a photo should either show something happening or look spectacular; I don't think these photos do either.
I couldn't comment on the technical details because I don't know anything about technical details.
I really need to send off my films. I have three cans sitting in a drawer; one has been there for so long that I can't remember what's on it.
