Have you ever tried or even cooked "pelmeni"?
The Russian pelmeni variety traditionally is made of flour, milk, one egg, and salt. The dough is rolled out fairly thin, and cut in circles approximately two inches in diameter. The filling is usually a mixture of minced pork, onions, garlic, salt, and pepper.
Even if there are many other dishes from another countries...
According to me it is the best kind of meal with meat wrapped in dough.
Probably ravioli gets the second place, even because it is easier to cook.

my grandfather called it pilmanar, he put pork and sour cream in them,lightly fried them,and served them as a kind of "ravioli soup" so dank.

Nah, it usually has cabbage in it actually. The polish put whatever in perogi.

Actually... pierogi's are either potato + farmers cheese (ratio's vary), or sauerkraut + boletes, or mince meat. Onion, salt, and black pepper added for taste. Garnished with caramelized onion, bacon, or mushrooms. Some people top or dip in sour cream. Can be cooked in various ways such as boiling, steamed, fried, or deep fried. Theirs also a sweet version with berries or other fruit.

This is kind of what I was trying to say without so many words. Thanks. But, I'm sticking to my guns on the popularity of the cabbage pirogi. As far as I've seen/heard Potato (weirdly enough) is the least popular around the world, aside from Ms. T's frozen brand.

Potato & Mushroom, specifically. Boiled, fried, with fried onions and sour cream. Excellent.
