Getting the latest iPhones for free!

My friend has a pretty awesome and foolproof way of upgrading to the latest iPhone ever single year for free. He originally purchased the iPhone 3G back in 2008. Every time a new iPhone comes out, he purposely damages his current iPhone and has it replaced at the Apple store, while still under his 1 year warranty.

The foolproof method of damaging his phone beyond repair involves microwaving it for around 30 seconds. This apparently fries the motherboard and make it look like the iPhone simply overhear. Since Apple cannot repair the devices motherboard and because an overheating iPhone is obviously a safety concern, they replace his phone with the latest generation.

He has been doing this since 2008 and has gone through the iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4, 4S and soon the iPhone 5! What do you think of this? Is it really as foolproof as he thinks?

That wouldn't work. Apple will void your warranty for smoking near your mac, they won't upgrade your microwaved iPhone (they won't even replace it).

I have gotten two of my iphones replaced days before the warranty runs out. The first time I did it, it was jailbroken and for some reason my wifi stopped working and they replaced it right then and there. The second time, I opened up the back and stuffed some lint into the weight that spins and makes the phone vibrate. They replaced that right then and there too.

BUT THEY WILL ONLY REPLACE IT WITH THE SAME MODEL THAT YOU CAME IN WITH

That lint thing is a good idea because then you have a brand new iphone again and you will be able to sell it for more money if you are planning on buying the next gen one.

Dont microwave your phone for 30 seconds, they have internal batterys that you can make explode by doing that, You only need to fry it for a couple seconds, like I stated in another thread. But Apple will only replace with a refurbished model of the same kind.
