They call the police from a phone program pretending to be (insert conservative blogger here), say something horrific such as “I just shot my wife,” hang up and then laugh as a local SWAT team descends on the house of (insert conservative blogger here) for no real reason.

"MILITARIZED POLICE STATE!!!"

I've been meaning to ask someone what they mean when they say that the police are becoming more "militarized." Is it because they wear goofy, futuristic-looking body armor at the demonstrations nowadays? If anything, what there has been is a Play-Skoolization of the police departments. They have become less extreme, if that's what you're getting at.

On 08/01/1938 the Hilo Police Department (Hilo, Hawaii) murdered several protestors using military rifles and bayonets. Yes, the police used to put bayonets on rifles when they addressed protestors back in the day. Although Hawaii was not a US state at the time it was controlled by American businessmen and municipal government was modeled after any other American city.

That is just one of many examples I could bring up. Today, they rely on pepper spray and negotiation skills to control the unruly. In the past, they told you to suck their mother fucking dick, and, if you didn't comply, they shot you.

You may have heard the old saying "don't talk to the cops." Well, only for the past 20-30 years or so have people had that luxury. It wasn't long ago that if the cops couldn't beat or drug a confession out of you, they would just write it down for you.

This was the way of the "friendly community police officer" that all of the 20-30 year olds in this county are so nostalgic about. They only think they were friendly because they were small children when they saw them and never had the "privilege" of being able to interact with them as criminal suspects.

Many of the people who complain about the "militarization" of the police only bring up superficial examples of what they consider to be "militarization" or "hardcore." For example, they complain about the color of police cruisers. Are you kidding me? Apparently, "black and whites" are more "militaristic" than "blues." As if the color of the paint on an officer's car has anything to do with how he behaves.

I've also detected increasing internet chatter about police abuse of steroids. But did you know that steroids were perfectly legal to purchase without a prescription just 20 years ago, and that police departments have only recently begun routine testing for steroids amongst their officers?

Face it; that skinny-fat, mustached cop with the 6-shot Smith and Wesson revolver was a thousand times more brutal than any meso-morphic, plasticized officer of the 21st century. People just don't realize how tolerant and safe of a world it is that we live in. People like ISSUE313 act like the world is so violent and savage. What happened to ISSUE313 that made him so fearful of the world?

In the mean time, let's add AMERICAN CONSERVATIVES and the police to ISSUE313's long list of issues (313,503,344 strong).

I think what they mean is removing the distinction between military personal and police officers and/or merging the two entities into one and the same.
