Re: What are the Most Expensive Libray Books
Your library should have an online database telling what they have, how many copies, and if its checked out.
My University library had a bunch of nice stuff that they kept in the student center on stacks. The building was supposed to open at 8, but the cleaning crew always left the doors unlocked at 6 a.m. so they could go outside for trash and such. I'd just walk into the massive building and use the side stairs so nobody would see me. I always loaded up my bags with expensive books that I liked, especially high end graphic novels. I'd just walk out and lift my bags above the alarm. Even if I set it off, nobody would care, nor could they show up in time to see me. I was upset that they kept the leather bound edition of The Watchmen in the regular library which had people by the exit.

Re: What are the Most Expensive Libray Books
Why bother stealing them, when you can check them out using another person's library card number. My friend has a list of other people's library card numbers. He watches them type in thier library card numbers on the library PCs when they are using the internet.
He then makes the barcodes using an online barcode generator. At the local libraries, it's Codabar with a start char of A and with an end char of B.
He doesn't use them to checkout books(although he could by using the new self checkout thing), he uses them for doing semi-illegal things on the PCs because they now require a state ID card for guest usage.

Re: What are the Most Expensive Libray Books
I don't understand why people pick the most random objects to target for theft. Why books? Think of something better to steal, like high end dresses.

Re: What are the Most Expensive Libray Books
College textbooks usually sell in the hundreds of dollars. Only the newest editions are worth anything and libraries rarely have them.
My library keeps college textbooks under lock and key and you can't check them out.
Everything else is worth like $5 at most.

Re: What are the Most Expensive Libray Books
You should actually utilize the free materials a library provides and learn how to spell instead.

Re: What are the Most Expensive Libray Books
OP, just use the numbers for the PCs.
I don't know which books would even be worth getting for profit.

Re: What are the Most Expensive Libray Books
How desperate do you have to be to steal a book and what are you going to do after you steal them? You do know the ones that cost the most are going to be the ones you cant carry in one trip or by yourself.

Now I'm curious. A friend once stole numerous books from a book store with no LP and shittily placed cameras. Good books too, like Watchmen (well it was soft cover but still like 15-20), and then those special edition hard covers of books like The Giving Tree and Where the Sidewalk ends. He gave them as gifts, but do you think people would purchase these things from ebay.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. My friend has been trying to stop stealing, out of fear of getting caught, but this idea...

Re: What are the Most Expensive Libray Books
Shit to steal at a library:
1.A LOT of books to sell in mass
2.Peoples laptops
3.D&D books go for like 40 bucks each but they are big so take a big bag
Get creative. You could even snag wallets from purses if you wanted.

THIS. My stupid ass friends at the place I work at, leave their laptops in the library cubicles to go to the bathroom, get snacks, wander around. One day, one of them had their laptop stolen. Well it was about time you dumb cocksucker, after leaving it sitting there unwatched. He ended up buying a laptop from my other friend that he lifted. His loss was 'Steve's gain!

Re: What are the Most Expensive Libray Books
Cash4Books has a app for phones that allows scanning the barcode of books to find the price they will pay for it.

The most expensive books will never be found in public libraries.

Re: What are the Most Expensive Libray Books
all your replies were good , especially the laptop thing. my friend is going to just collect as many free materials in this library in Russia and open accounts and sell 1,000's of books online.
