People that go to parties feeling like they must have a photo taken of them with everyone at said party, and upload said photos on facebook?

I don't get it. Is it a recent thing, or did people take polaroids back in the day as well, and then show them to their friends?

I can understand taking one or a few group photos, although that's fairly stupid as well. But what is the significance of taking individual photos with every single person, even ones they never talked to and never will?
