I just knew a guy with the username "muffins" was gonna come in here and talk shit.
Olympic weightlifting is the most high level sport in the world. It carries over into everything. If you have a big olympic squat... chances are you have a sick vertical and sprint.

Lol, what's wrong with putting on muscle an sculpting your body as you see fit? I'd say anyone who criticizes bodybuilding as much as Muffins must have some sort of major inferiority complex because they can't put on weight.
Seriously, what's wrong with wanting to look like a Greek statue and to achieve said look though diet, exercise and dedication?

Don't know about little dick syndrome. I don't need to lift shit to assert my masculinity just walk around butt naked in the health suite at my local gym.

Re: get your weight up.
Those weightlifters lift some serious fucking weight. It's great and all, but it's just another guy under the fucking barbell. There have been some good characters over the years though. It's very hard for a normal person to appreciate the level some of these guys are at.
Unfortunately, all this time spent lumbering over a barbell is a means to an end my white friend, I's can play house nigga till's we get to where we're goin, then the day of the dog begins.

Re: get your weight up.
btw for those that didn't catch it the 225kg/496pound push press is at 4:50. And also at 1:47 buddy ass to the grass squats 320kg/706pounds for 5 reps. Out of this world shit. People who don't lift weights tend to either not appreciate or are unable to grasp the monstrosity.

I think I understand what you are getting at here, and it's something that has been on my mind for a while. It's pretty amazing that people have lifted all of these weights before, but the fact is that we're the only ones that take note of a bunch of atoms fucking with each other, and no one will even care about it in 100 years. Heck, even more impressive lifts have been done and they were never even caught on camera. All that effort was lost in time, and if you want to see a 225kg barbell get lifted you can always rent a forklift and sit there and watch your barbell get lifted up and down over and over again.

Re: get your weight up.
When weights are lifted it should be done without struggle. You see, a lot of powerlifters and even some weightlifters are what I call grinders, they really have to grind at a weight to get it up. Years of torture like this will eventually result in some strength gains, but the really, really good lifters are the ones that look like they don't even require to put in any muscular effort. In the real world, making lifts as easy as possible is what it's all about. With bodybuilding, the lifters are placing the maximal stress they can on the muscle, where as the opposite is what needs to be achieved for the ability to lift weights, which is a separate concept to strength. There's a whole bunch of skinny lifters that can chuck 4 plates overhead, which no "meathead" would ever be able to match, as they've spent too long grinding against the weights. It just wasn't meant to be.
Lifting weights isn't really that beneficial for the majority of people - even those wishing to "get in shape" and so forth. People are often more impressed if you can do something as simple as a handstand because right there it something they can see or appreciate, but telling someone what you bench press, deadlift, squat, press, clean or snatch has no relevance because 99.99% of people don't know what those lifts are and will just blindly accept any figure you give them.
Once someone has trained for a year they should have hit some fairly respectable lifts which should leave them as strong as they would ever need to be. Hardly anyone did strength training in the past compared today yet they never encountered any problems due to their apparent lack of strength. Many people in the 30+ age bracket have never set foot in a gym, and I don't blame them. If you're lucky you might see two to three years of consistent progress as a natural and then that's it, you either take steroids and go down that pathway, or you can simply maintain that strength extremely easily as opposed to fighting the weights for the next 10 years to get minimal gains. Strength isn't just about what you can lift for 1, 3, 5 or 10 reps in a given lift.
It all comes down to what you want, but believe me weight training is most likely useless for you.

Re: get your weight up.
That's a great point, and nearly all of the weightlifters nowadays are grinders. The old days of the 1980s lifters who lifted weights the helpless way are pretty much over. All that is left now are the Chinese/Iranian/leftover Russian retards who just get pumped up on bath salts and grind their way through weights that are orders of magnitude lighter than what was being lifted 25 years ago. It's the 2000s syndrome.
The only people who are interested in going to a gym or working out are naive little shits who are in a trance. I think they should be beaten with rebars by the proper authorities. The only people who have any business touching weights are people who use steroids and lift weights without applying force to anywhere other than the ground/the barbell itself. No strain. Technically, if you apply force to anywhere other than the barbell or the floor (in other words, grinding or straining) you are committing a crime called loitering, and consequences for this crime can be severe as some have learned.

Re: get your weight up.
It's cool and all, but I don't respect muscle alone. Great - you packed on a million pounds of muscle and it looks like your veins are about to explode every time you take a shit. Can you use them effectively in a fight? Have you been exercising your brain along with those various 'ceps?
I respect Schwarzenegger - that dude had a sharp mind and a great understanding of the minds of the people who he was competing against. His body was amazing, but he knew the value of a strong mind as well. A ripped bod alone is half a man compensating for something severely lackluster either upstairs or downstairs. Mad respect for the commitment it takes to get there, but if you're retarded it's pointless. If you can't effectively use it in a fight it's pointless. Muscle for muscle's sake is vanity and overcompensation.

True, it's important to be as mentally strong as you are physically, if you see some of the interviews with Bruce Lee he showed not only a great understanding of martial art, but knowledge too. His philosophy was cool:

Maybe two years, to be generous.
well, if you want to measure strength, it is about what one can lift once or twice.
But as you mention, maintenance of your strength is doable and, IMO, not an unworthy cause.
