Wow. I'm kind of taken aback at how picky some of you are. Different strokes, I guess.

Sardines but I still eat them for the health benefits. High omega 3, high protein, low in mercury because they're a bottom feeding species. It's should be classed as a "superfood" right up there with something like blueberries.

i dont think not liking something makes you picky. i fucking hate mushrooms, but i wont turn down a pizza or pasta sauce that has mushrooms in it. try to get me to eat just a mushroom though, or, god forbid, throw some of those nasty fuckers on my steak and i will turn it down for sure.

I don't mind looking at spiders or snakes or whatever. But snails make me physically sick watching them. I was working in the woods last time when I accidentally grabbed a snail. I puked.

That's mostly because of their use of "vegetable" oil, which even when the label says "no trans fat", often contains a significant amount from hydrogenation that happens no matter what during the process of making the oil.

We were actually better off when we used things like tallow and coconut oil.

I'm pretty sure that when mercury is dissolved enough, gravity has very little effect(just as gravity is very irrelevant at the molecular level). I may be wrong though.

Snails are fucking tasty. I've always been told by people that they are tasteless and rubbery, but I'm sure this is because they were reluctant to actually chew it.

The way I see it, if you're willing to eat clams and mussels, snails aren't all that different. They are mollusks that live on land, and they actually eat better stuff than mussels, which filter poop out of the ocean.

Slugs are probably pretty good too.

I don't like mussels or clams either. Though that's just because I don't like the taste (don't like seafood in general). Snails actually disgust me. I've heard people say they're good when cooked the right way, but the thought of eating a snail makes me cringe.

I wouldn't eat them either, but vomiting just from brushing against a snail is just ridiculous. I have to peel several of those fuckers off with my fingers almost every time I find a bolete.

A snail is basically the same, only with a shell. Pull it out of its shell and it's just like a slug.

I know it's ridiculous. Just like people who are afraid of spiders know it's ridiculous to be scared. It's completely irrational. And it's not that I'm scared, they just deeply disgust me. However, I didn't brush my hand up against it. It got squished between my hand and a block of wood, leaving slug-goo all over my hand.

Maybe some repressed trauma or something.

My aunt was in Greece several years ago. She had a tour there by one of the local villagers. Afterwards, he invited her to dinner at his house with his family. She agreed, but didn't know they had prepared snails. They picked them fresh out of the garden and straight into the cooking pot. It was some kind of stew with lots of garlic. Though she initially ate it out of politeness, she actually liked it a lot.

It's not that I'm not convinced they taste nice. It's just the idea of eating one of those things. I'd have a lot less difficulty eating whatever insect instead of a snail.

Common table mushrooms (A. bisporus) don't have a strong taste, but there are thousands of different species, having many different flavors and some being quite strong. Some are even hot and spicy naturally. Have you tried others? Before you even mentioned steak I was thinking about how good Morels are with some steak.
