Default Jack Whyte's King Arthur series

IMHO, this is the most realistic take ever on the King Arthur myth--no supernatural stuff, for one thing.

Plus, the different books are narrated by different characters--some are by Merlin, some by Lancelot, and the historical authenticity is awesome.

Bernard Cornwell's Warlord series is pretty much the opposite. Paganism is fighting Christianity. Merlin is a druid. Arthur is just a warlord. Lancelot is a vain coward. The characters really aren't who they are in the legend. It's a great take on the traditional myth.

And Bernard Cornwell is awesome.

Agreed--I am reading some of Cornwell's Sharpe series right now.

But I think that Whyte does the best Arthur, ever. Eat your heart out, T. H. White!
