Default could a glass bottle serve as an adhoc fragmentaton grenade?

Sorry, I'm banned from W&C for no reason, so I can't post it there.

Is there a certain reactive mixture that I could use in a way that I could simply put a pill of a certain substance into it, plug the hole with a cloth or clay or something and toss, where it will then shatter in, say, 5 seconds and send shit flying all around? Or is it unsafe, impractical, impossible or simply more sensible to just make a molotov cocktail? This is actually just a thought, I'd genuinely like to know what's stopping a person from just making a glass grenade. I imagine the biggest problem would be the grenade just exploding in your hand and horribly maiming you.

Glass would make a poor fragmentation grenade because it is so brittle. It would crack immediately during a detonation without allowing the superheated gases to build up pressure first. They're also fragile, and prone to cracking during transportation and handling.

This belongs in Bad Ideas, not here.

The servers are based in the USA.

Building such a device would be considered a "Destructive Device".

Without the proper approval of the BATFE, proper tax stamp, and probably some sort of license; building such a device would be felony getting you 10 years in federal "pound me in the ass" prison AND/OR a $100,000 fine. Making this a REALLY FUCKING BAD IDEA.

What I would do is cast a mold of a Orangina bottle and use that to make a plastic cast and epoxy washers or nuts all over it. If you use the plastic casing you can just fill it with molten TNP put something like a straw with a closed end so you have a place to set the fuze into the charge.

I'd suggest a time pencil with a Silver Carbide D-Salt initiator.

You could also use a cannon fuse and rig a match head/match strip pull tab instead of a time pencil.

Waterproof it with Nitrocellulose Lacquer, just dip the whole god damned thing in it like your making a candle.

Alright, that's enough. The question has been answered, and the thread has degenerated into inanity.
