What qualification is good for getting a job?

Did uni for a year, biochemistry, it was ok but to get a job in that area means at least a post grad degree so seven years and like £40k debt to maybe get a job in something I'm not that interested in.

Been working in pubs/bars since I left which is cool for now but I don't want to be doing that kind of thing for the rest of my life.

So want to go back to college and get some kind of qualification, thinking of doing a chef course, worked in restaurants a couple of years ago and can cook pretty well but don't know if there's that much demand. Also thinking carpentry but don't know the demand.

Any ideas? Really don't care what but just something that will get me a decent job, ideally something I could move to other countries and get work too if I wanted to.

good choice to get out of biochem - it's interesting but basically makes you completely unemployable and (rightfully) afraid of everything in your food/environment/life that's fucking you up. Best to be ignorant of that sort of thing, tbqh.

For the next step in your career I recommend purchasing a decent used van or pickup truck and driving off a cliff.

Got a mate who did that actually, well minus driving off a cliff. Bought a van and does removals and stuff, makes like a grand a week easy.

Nobody makes a good living. All anyone does is rack up debt via loans, mortgages, credit cards and so on and struggle to pay it back. If they miss one pay check, they're fucked and have to keep taking out more and more loans to stay on top.

Not that anything really costs a lot of money (you can get by on minimum wage) but if you want everything society has made you believe that you need, like a house and a brand new car, you'll most likely either need to take loans/mortgages to afford it. The only other options are really inheriting a shit load of money and never having to worry about it or driving straight off a cliff edge and killing yourself.

I dunno... suppose it depends what your standards are. My idea of earning a decent living is just not living hand to mouth and not worrying where the month's rent's coming from. Never mind buying a house and new cars.
