Total War: Rome 2 announced!
Pretty psyched about this. Rome was probably the best TW game, that time period just seems to work perfectly with the TW gameplay. Would be a bit worried if it was coming straight after Empire/Napoleon but Shogun 2 was pretty good.
uk.ign.com/articles/2012/07/02/total-war-rome-ii-shows-wars-human-side
Decent preview there, not much on it yet and not expecting to release until at least Q4 2013. Like the sound of a couple of things in that article though, especially some slight RPG elements in legions gaining traits etc. depending how they act in battles.

What's with the retarded, utterly pointless promo video being hosted on that page you linked to? Also, this article has some more meat to it, you all might find it interesting:

Re: Total War: Rome 2 announced!
Yeah thought there would be a better article somewhere, that was just the first one I saw on twitter so just linked that. Good summary of features so far here...
www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=547893
Apparently no more single province countries (say France/Spain in NTW/ETW), have to conquer towns individually and more open-field battles to take control of regions, which I like... never been a fan of sieges.
Just hope they can do a decent job of the battle AI, been the biggest problem in all TWs.

Re: Total War: Rome 2 announced!
I was hoping they would move forward chronologically and do Victoria: Total War. But whatever.

Re: Total War: Rome 2 announced!
I hope they finally do something to make the battles a bit more challenging. I mean, sure, they're huge and epic. But most battles, even when you're greatly outnumbered, can be won by remembering a few guidelines:
-Archers are often useless
-Light cavalry against archers/skirmishers/light infantry
-Heavy cavalry against heavy infantry
-Infantry against spears
-Spears against cavalry
-Always flank

Re: Total War: Rome 2 announced!
it sounds like theyre just going back but comparing it against shogun so it looks good, OH SHIT INDIVIDUAL TERRITORIES.
nigga they did that in rome 1.
and then the forum page is all HUGE GEOGRAPHICAL TERRITORY AND MASSIVE CULTURAL DIVERSITIES.
rtw1 as well.

Re: Total War: Rome 2 announced!
It'll be interesting to see how the legion trait system works. If they'll be a reinforcement legion setup to run back and forth with movement bonuses, or some kind of augmented secondary legion that that actually shows up mid battle with boosts to your main force. I imagine with the added sea elements they'll also have traits designed for beach siege and fleets as well.

rtw2 will be like shogun2 and empire and napoleon more than like rome or medieval 2 as creative assembly has moved away from supporting modding communitie because they make more money from releasing unit dlcs
medieval 2 has better mods than rome like third age call of warhammer kingdoms grand campaign mod broken crescent invasio barbarovm 2 and soon ogniem i mieczem 2 and europa barbaroum 2
