Here on the Nelson farm we witness a blazing fire, apparently caused when a tractor struck an old wooden structure and the tractor's exhaust came in contact with and ignited hay inside. Damages are estimated at over 570,000 dollars. Fire investigators have declared the blaze non-intentional. The hot weather we are experiencing led to problems getting fire crews on the scene as they were overheating around lunch-time when first dispatched.
We briefly interviewed a Mr. John Nelson who exclaimed" IM SALTING, IM SALTING IS THIS REAL " before being rushed inside by an older man that looked furious. Police would not say when asked whether the driver might be under the influence of "bath salts" the latest craze in designer drugs. Lt. Henry Fields said "It is departmental policy to not discuss the sobriety of the accused when we have not sent blood samples in for secondary bath-salts testing until we receive the lab work back ".
Wayne county fire deputies want to urge the public to avoid operating farm machinery under the influence of bath salts saying that there has been a disturbing trend in this part of the county where barns end up in a blaze.
