Why do tattoos have to mean something?

To be honest, I do agree, have your own reason and do it. Either big or small or just for lulz.

The worst is my ex-girlfriend though, for some reason she's one of those people that believe just because it is written in a foreign script, it means so much more. She got some random quote in hindi script on her back, and now wants to get some tibetan symbol..

I'm sorry it might be because i despise her, but i think that's fucking retarded, especially how when I asked her what was written (although I am half-indian, I do not speak hindi) she said "oh yeah it's like.... it's about life"

I think people say that because it's pretty much permanent. Removal is expensive and a bitch, doesn't always totally work, so it makes sense. I mean, when you're eighty do you really still think you'll want that tattoo of a unicorn on a flaming surfboard you thought would be badass when you were 23? Likely not.

Not to mention, pointless tattoos are so fucking annoying. I mean, people who get tattoos just to get them, just to look "cool" it's just like any other fad, except you can't just undo it whenever you want. It's a mistake that makes you look like a dumbass for life.

It's like the emo phase from your youth you look back on shamefully, but this you can never undo.
