Re: I'm gonna...
The way I see it, at least I got out of high school before I started having kids, I'm 22, I have a job, a place to stay, a family that is helping us out and best of all.. I don't hate the person who's having my baby.
As far as I'm concerned, everything is gonna be great.

Keep it up, bro. You have no idea the happiness that comes from being a parent and nurturing the life you created.
But, you will. It's a happiness you simply can not imagine.
Feels good, man.
I'm proud of you, and looking forward to offering any advice you may need when the time comes. Don't hesitate to hit me up.

Being a father is nothing more than an abstract thought until the baby arrives. When you hold your child for the first time everything changes. You realize every idea you had about what it would be like goes out the window. It's a fundamental shift in the way you view the world.
Hell, just thinking about it almost makes me want another one.
So, you hoping for a boy or a girl?

Absolutely this! Having kids is one of the greatest experiences in life. The Love children give as well as the Love you feel for them is a whole other level than you've ever experienced. It's so pure & genuine, it's just the greatest experience. So congratulations OP you are really blessed!

Re: I'm gonna...
Girls are a little easier in the beginning, but them teenage years ARE GOING TO SUCK SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BAAAAD, lol. Just an opinion.
I can't really say one is better than the other, because they both have a special place in a parent's heart, but I'm glad I had a son. Nothing beats watching him trying to be like his daddy.

Re: I'm gonna...
We have decided on a couple names so far. We don't really like common names, but also don't want to give our kid a name that will haunt him/her all of their life.. like Shithead or Shenaynay.
For a boy, Emory Jude.
And for a girl, Marleigh Ramona.
Honestly, I've never been this excited about baby names or any of that shit. But it feels more... real now. More tangible. Fuck, 9~ months from now I'm gonna be a father. Blows my mind.

Re: I'm gonna...
@HampTheToker, that is so tRuE about how great it is watching your son try to be like his daddy, it's the cutest thing watching the little guy try to do everything daddy does or wants, like when you ask what they'd like to eat & they respond "whatever daddy is having," it's like having a mini me. My daughter is the same way with doing everything I do, wear, watch, eat, but it's cute. Hamp, it's very obvious you're a great daddy. But I do have disagree with you & say that boys are much easier to raise. But weather you have a girl or boy really doesn't matter, the Love they give & you'll have for them is unconditional & the greatest feeling.

Lol, I swore if I ever got married and have a boy he was going to be named Huey Eldridge. If it was a girl it was going to be Angela Davis.

Today, he locked himself in my car and ripped off the lining on the roof.
Yesterday, he grabbed a tube of toothpaste and commenced to repainting the walls.
The day before that he decided it was a great idea to pour an entire bottle of water on me while I slept. The same day he reached into his shitty diaper and pulled out a finger with crap all over it. I wasn't paying attention when he stuck it in my face and I playful bit his finger.
I ran to the scope so fast it caused a sonic boom. I didn't even spank him because it was my fault for not paying attention. I was furious, but even then I knew better than to blame him for it.
Despite his evil little shenanigans I wouldn't trade a second of it for anything. There is absolutely nothing in this world that compares to hearing him say, "Dada, wuv woo." Any attempt to describe what that feels like, no matter how eloquent, will always fall short.
Edit: if I'd had a choice knowing then what I know now...I still would have chosen a boy. He's just...my purpose. He's me. He is my legacy. Through him I can never die. Children are our immortality.

Re: I'm gonna...
There's nothing more warming than the love from an impressionable child. Kids are innocently but brutally honest as well. They see pleasure and fun in the simple things to life such as sweets, play fighting, cuddles and what have you. They have more character to them than most adults who've been broken in and forced by a leftist society to hate themselves and their zestful urges for life.
I've got a daughter and I agree with hamp, describing the feeling when you bond is very difficult. Few things are more beautiful than a bond between child and parent.
You've got a good start off; I've had to fight custody battles, had her when I was 16 and hate her mother. It was all worth it though.

Good names. My shitty cousin just had another daughter, and she named her Matalena. They called me that day asking how to spell it. I told them it should probably be Madellina, but they did their own thing anyway. I feel bad for the girl. She was full term and only weighed 3 pounds 5 ounces. She smoked throughout the duration and God knows what else.
I still want to choke her to death slowly for it. Poor baby withdrawing from nicotine and probably other chemicals, too. It breaks my heart and sets it ablaze simultaneously.

Word of advice...
Pacifiers are good for newborns (Gerber pacificers are the best imo), but don't let them keep it for too long. Take it away on his/her first birthday or it'll be much much harder later on. Mine won't give his up for shit, and it's really starting to concern me.
Also, Playtex bottles with disposable drop-in liners are great for reducing colic.

I really didn't think Zoklet would be this encouraging about my situation. Makes me feel better that even in the slums of the interweb, people still feel emotions and stuff.
Thanks for your stories and opinions. As soon as we start getting Savannah's doctor appointments and such squared away, I will post a thread to chronicle the journey.

Well, it's probably because you're being a man about it instead of running from it. I have no respect for the idiots that can't step up and be responsible for the lives they create.
I was thinking about starting a thread about the joys of parenthood the other day, but I've been putting it off. I'll probably post it up tonight or tomorrow...or now, lol.
I'll be looking for your thread whenever you decide to post it up.

This.
Just remember that whenever a child resents their mom or dad, it's because they themselves refused to grow up after the child was born. Pretty much you're gonna have a whole new outlook on life.

Ya know whet else is good?
Getting free stuff just for having a baby on the way.
Our families have already given us a ton of stuff. Baby clothes. Cribs. Etc. But the best part is when your friends smoke you out in celebration of getting someone preggers. A buddy brought an eighth over, smoked a blunt with me and left the rest. And after that, I helped another friend find some, so she left me a bit as well. I have awesome friends.

WOW! What a little monster, you certainly have your hands full. But I Love reading stories like yours about how rambunctious the little stinkers get. And I think I spoke too soon with saying boys are easier. My youngest little man is 13months & in this last week or two his hellian side has really made an appearance. Everything he's not suppose 2 get into he does literally all day everyday
I also wanna add you are an awesome father, even though I don't know you personally, I don't need to. I can see it just in your writing when talking about him. He's a lucky little boy to have such a loving, involved daddy.
