Re: Great unknown films that you found casually
Bump. I caught a great movie on TV earlier today— it's called Dare, released in 09; can't believe I never heard of it. Emmy Rossum? Check. Interesting gay subplot? Check. Hot male lead? Check check.

My stepdad had me watch Suicide Kings, True Romance, and Things to do in Denver When You're Dead when I was a kid. Some of my favorite movies, and fuck you if you disagree.

Re: Great unknown films that you found casually
Stranger Than Paradise (like clerks, but with eastern eauropean immigrants, and not funny so much as interesting)
Sunset Limited (atheist professor debating a black preacher. samuel l. jackson and tommy lee jones. superb movie)
The Man From Earth (excellent sci-fi movie about a man who may or may not be thousands of years old. people from star trek had a hand in it, so the writing is excellent.)

Here are some good unknown movies:
Fresh (1994) - Basically the movie version of the wire
Q & A (1990)
Adam & Paul (2004) - Good Scottish junkie movie
Homicide (1991) - Mamet meets Shyamalan
Brain Dead (1990) - Not Peter Jackson's
Barfly (1987)
Bringing Out the Dead (1999) - great overlooked Scorsese
Two Hands (1999) - gangster/comedy kinda like snatch
Once Were Warriors (1994)
The Brother from Another Planet (1984)
Bio-Zombie(1998) - Japanese Shaun of the Dead
In the Mouth of Madness (1994) - If you like They Live, give this a shot
Frankenhooker (1990) - cheesy comedy/horror, good tho

Gomorrah. It's an Italian mafia epic with half dozen interrelated stories set in modern times. Watched it years ago when I saw it advertised in a small theatre I was just about to walk past. I just noticed it's up on Netflix now.

He was in that movie called The Hunter or something like that. Takes place in Tasmania. I watched it then watched Antichrist right after it. I was like wtf!?!? 'cause I didn't know he was in Antichrist and he went from being in Australia in the first movie to Washington in the 2nd one. I moved from Australia to Washington so I was like whaaaaaaaa?????!!!?!?!
